Welcome To Our Site
I started flying in 1979. I got my first birds from many of the local flyers. When I first started I have fond memories of my parents taking me to the local club to basket, as I was too young to drive. All of the old Belgium would talk in their native language, how I remember that I wished I could understand them. There must have been 75 - 100 members in the Quad City area. As a young boy I did not have any funds to buy birds, but that did not stop me. I used to catch catfish, clean the fish, then ride my bike with the fish to one members house and receive a baby. That member was the late Charlie Naart. From him I obtained a Manor Loft Fabry cock and hen. This blood is still in my Manor Loft Fabry Line. Another way that I afforded my hobby was to set all the wind up clocks for the week's race. Again, I rode my bike to the club, checked the paper, ink ribbon, and set the clock's to start. For this I was paid $.50 a clock. This was how I paid my shipping dues and entry fees. I became friends with many of the top flyers, Dick Raiche,Ralph Dufour, Vic VanDeVoorde, just to name a few. I also became friends with the late Ken Swartz Jr. Kenny was one of the most generous men you ever met. This is where I obtained my 1713 cock and Red Wonder. Both gifts!! Another very close friend was the late Jim Hill. A little story about Jim. In 2005 my lofts got broke into and all but a couple of my breeders were stolen. Fortunately, my 1713 cock, Red Wonder, and the 1199 cock were in pens outside of the loft. They took the birds from my breeding loft and almost all of my young birds. Any way I called my neighbor, Randy Viager who also had his birds stolen the same night, Jim, and Ralph Dufour, then the police. Jim lived about 20 miles from me. Ralph about 15 miles. Before the police arrived here was Ralph with a basket of young ones, then Jim pulled up with his foundation cock " The Seagull ". Now Jim only kept 20 Old Birds and 20 - 25 Young Birds and no breeder's. This is the kind of competition and friendship's that you earn by doing this for 30 plus years. This hobby has been very fun my wife and myself. I hope you enjoy this site, and feel free to contact us.
